Started by Milwaukee's Construction Craft Training at SDC 10 years ago

It is my/our pleasure to sign this petition in support of the Social Development Commission's (SDC) Absolute Advantage construction craft training Fast Forward/Wisconsin Department of Workforce grant application. I/we understand that these funds are specifically intended to support employer need-based, customized skills, job training programs to help city of Milwaukee residents develop skills that are in demand by area employers.

By signing this petition, as a potential employer, it is understood that candidates who successfully complete SDC's program will be paid at a rate of $11.25/hour or higher.

It is also understood that collaboratively we intend to offer SDC's graduates employment with a placement goal of 85% or higher.

SDC's all-inclusive, individual-oriented approach to finding solutions and creating pathway opportunities to assist those they serve is commendable. This, coupled with their comprehensive approach to provide education and career assessments for participants and match them with the needs of employers who are looking for dependable workers provides a value-added approach second to none

In fact, Absolute Advantage has been purposefully designed from a nationally certified "Core Construction" curriculum to provide much needed Construction craft training and job placement opportunities, specifically for low-income residents who are seeking opportunities to improve their economic status.

  • I/we will work with SDC to assist and/or consider the placement of trainee graduates upon the successful completion of the Absolute Advantage program for core construction skills and safety.
  • I/we understand and value that SDC provides full diagnostic and career assessments, work-readiness training, on-the-job work experiences, and individualized case management services that extend into the job placement period. These additional services provide individuals with the resources they need to be successful in securing employment or advancing their current position.

I/we respectfully ask Employ Milwaukee Incorporated the Workforce Development Board for Milwaukee County to identify SDC/Absolute Advantage as best positioned to maximize the full benefit of the resources available through the Construction Readiness Training and Placement Services grant, and to award such grant to them.

Thank you, in advance, for your judicious and thoughtful consideration.
