With respect to village board’s decision, a conversation with staff and members is warranted before closing for the entire season.

Kids need something to look forward to and pools are opening elsewhere. Make it happen please!

In a time of extreme uncertainty, please reconsider this decision. Even 1 month of swimming would be uplifting. We love OUR pool! Let us show you!

Seems like same precautions other pools are taking could be put in place to open up. Even divide the pool in half — red side/blue side and hand out wrist bands, do sign up sheets, have everyone bring their own chair, close the locker room, bathroom use only, gate open for entry / exit to avoid confined space, etc. please consider!! This pool means so much to us every summer!

The board should reconsider its vote. Plenty of employees are ready to step in and help. Many kids and families were looking forward to a bright spot in a tough few months by spending some time at the pool.

This is so important to the families. Not opening the pool is yet another disappointment in a long list! It would be the safest place for the kids to be, so I sincerely hope you will reconsider.

I strongly believe that this wonderful community of committed members can come together and find a way to open our pool safely. Closing it altogether without input from pool staff and members was shocking and disappointing. As a lifeguard myself, I am more than willing to train and am comfortable working at the pool this summer. Please reconsider, we can get creative like other pools in the area.

I'm disappointed that this decision could be made without input from pool members, employees or taxpaying citizens of Shorewood Hills. The pool can be opened in a safe and responsible manner. Let's base this decision on science and not fear. Every individual and family can exercise their right to join or not join. Please reconsider.

I am not and have never been a Shorewood member but my kids swim with Badger Aquatics and love having their summer practices at SW. You have more lanes available for practice than any other pool in Madison. Please consider opening and take notes from the other pools in town for how to best make it work. Thanks

After a thoughtful & lengthy board discussion weighing the risks of opening & considering several viable options to do so, the final decision to NOT open the pool at all was surprising & disappointing. This decision was not adequately informed by the direct stakeholders (staff, participants, members). The pool can & should open, albeit VERY differently. I urge the board to reconsider its decision. More than ever, this is an opportunity for SW to lead & lead sensibly, rather than throw in the towel due to a failure of imagination.

There is a way to open up the pool safely and responsibly. Shutting it down completely is an extreme an unnecessary step.
