Connor Mills Should Play Baseball with His Peers

By-laws need to be updated for this type of situation

Academically it shouldn't matter. His age puts him at the middle school level. Kids who are homeschooled are allowed to play with kids in their age bracket and most of the homeschooled kids are technically grades higher.

Common sense would dictate an exception to the rules. Let's be human.

Please keep Connor with his peers for baseball.

This is ABSURD. And we wonder why children’s mental health is suffering and suicide at young ages is on the rise… This is removing his sense of belonging. His community. Two things that are vital for healthy self-esteem and social emotional well-being. This is setting him up to be tortured by older kids. This is SO wrong.

Let’s have some common sense here.

Conner should not be penalized for his academic success. He should definitely be allowed to play ball with his peers. Congratulations to Conner for your hard work. Wishing you success in this endeavor and your bright future!

Other sports such as football are age and weight based . The safety and well being of a child should be first and foremost!

Kids should NOT be penalized for being academically advanced!

The board/town need to ammend the by laws to read the ages allowed not the grade.

The age of the player should be what counts and that would be his birthdate , not the year he holds in school, many kids jump ahead in a grade academically ,but physically should be able to play the age they are and don't get penalized for that. This is not the major leagues this is kids baseball, lets not forget that.

Let the kid be a kid!

Please don't penalize Connor because he is academically gifted. Let him "play" with kids his own age. Would you really expect him to play/physically compete with kids 2-3 years older? Physical and intellectual ability are two separate things. That makes no sense. Good luck Connor!

Connor is a bright young man, but physically he should be playing with his peers. It is unsafe for him to be playing alongside and against kids that are so much more physically mature than he is. That is just unsafe and illogical. Let’s get this great kid where he belongs doing what he loves. Let’s encourage the love of sports, specifically baseball, in the next generation instead of building walls. Academic ability rarely equals physical ability. Let’s think about this, be smart, and be safe, friends. Let Connor play ball with his peers where he belongs. Otherwise, you’re punishing him for working hard academically, which is not what kids need.

Those who have authority over this decision should do what is right and swiftly to allow Connor to engage in his baseball season and with his appropriate middle school teammates immediately. This should have been a non-issue. Make it right!

Change the rules, permanently.

You're punishing an academically gifted child. Let the boy play ball!

Let him do what he loves. Sports keep children in school! Don’t punish him for being academically gifted.
