Connor Mills Should Play Baseball with His Peers

A child should play with his same aged peers regardless of his academic ability. You need to adjust your policy.

Please change the bylaws to allow appropriate age players even if they are in a higher grade. If you allow older kids who were held back, it is only fair you allow younger kids that are in higher grades.

Our mental, social, and physical capacities develop at different rates. Don’t penalize a student for being academically advanced by taking away his freedom to play and compete physically at his normal grade level. Denying him the right to play sports with his peers just because he’s capable of higher academics shows a concerning lack of critical thinking on the part of the school and district. Not a good look.

It’s dangerous to ask him to play with kids two years larger in size; I know this because my son has grown inch 4 inches this year alone. Let him play ball with kids his own age!

This is on so many levels disgusting to hold a child back due to his academic age level vs his actual age. To expect a child to “play up” at a Freshman level just because of his academic enrollment is ridiculous and I agree dangerous as he hasn’t developed physically as a Freshman. It’s really simple and shouldn’t be so complicated…Let him play with his age group. Change your bylaws or make the necessary expedited amendments to allow kids that are gifted and put in the hard work academically to play at their age level. Good luck to the family! I hope for a positive change and he’s allowed to try out for the Middle school team.

The kid is being punished for being a STUDENT athlete. Student first. Athlete second. Let him play with his peers!

Connor is one of the most kind, caring and smart children I know. He should and DESERVES to be playing with his friends and peers. Social and physical development are different than intellectual development and I’m So tired and angered that anyone in this community would take baseball away from a child who is deserving. From a family that volunteers in this community and pays taxes to the schools in this community. I vote for Connor.

Let him play - should be based on age, not grades (like in soccer). If they can allow for children being "held" back then it absolutely should allowed for "going ahead" - why blame the child for being smart/gift!!

Let him play! This sweet boy should not be punished because of his academic abilities that has moved him up in grades. Should go by his age and not grade in this case. Let Connor play ball.
