CONNIE Lawrence is an Owego icon. She deserves more than a school named after her. Sure is a great starting point to honor this great woman. I was friends with her son Stevie, i spent lots of time at their house. I know if my mom and dad were here today , they would sign this also. This should be a no brainer, great letter. Mrs. Lawrence was my 6th grade teacher. I will never forget the sign above her door that said "put down your putdowns" and I will never forget the unbelievable kindness she had for everyone.

This dear lady was an inspiration to all and was what teaching is all about...it was an honor to have known her and to have her teach my children...she was a role model for many and touched so many lives..please do this..

I didn't go to Owego, but the family I married into did and they have the ultimate respect for Mrs. Lawrence.

Mrs. Lawrence was easily the best teacher I had. Her enjoyment of the classroom and her students was obvious, as was her competence.

This woman touched so many hearts, and was a tireless advocate for equality when that was an uphill battle. Her character and spirit lives on in her students. Let's do this!

Connie and her daughter Leanne came to Tioga County Jail to tutor me for my GED.
I believe I was the first and I believe that this shows how far Connie was willing to go to be an educator! I'll alway remember them both!! :-)
