Mrs. Lawrence was my 6th grade teacher and I remember her reading us classics like the Homer's the Illiad. She always reminded her students to look at the world though "rose-colored" glasses and would really listen and care about each student in her class. She was an amazing teacher, and I feel very blessed to have had her impact my life in 6th grade.

Mrs. Lawrence was the single best educator I have ever had, and the model for how I teach even at the adult level. She was fun, energetic and very, very clever. I still have projects from her class, over thirty years later. She taught me about history, and poetry and supported my love of reading by assigning classics. On a dare from her, I read Tolstoy, then Melville then Socrates. Her civic minded teachings also taught me to look at volunteerism as an obligation, not a burden. Many educators stove to reach children, and motivate them. She did. It would be an honor to her memory, and the community, to have this action occur.

She was an Awesome teacher and went well above her duty as a teacher to help others and mentor children she didn't even have in her class. All through school I may have not seen how truly amazing person she was with a heart of gold, I just always though she was the best teacher ever is all. until I was well out of high school and my Nephew started school on Owego in 6th in 1988/1989 school year and he barley knew anyone but she took him in under her wing to help him out and even convinced him to run for class president. Well unfortunately that connection was short lived as my Nephew died in January 1989 in a car accident but she made it so he will never be forgotten she went out of her way and raised money for a tree and a plaque to be at the school as well as a Scholarship that year in his name and a Trip to the Binghamton Whalers hockey game for the class. Why because that's the type of person and teacher she was putting others before herself. I truly think that it would be the schools honor to rename it after her.

Mrs Lawerence, just a very caring woman. I only had her for a few months when in 6th grade. But have never forgotten her.
My husband also meet her in a different setting, she did not no him, but bought him breakfast, he had no money that morning.

She was an inspiration to everyone, cared about her students! Least I can gather she helped me (6th grade Social Studies) , and really looked after Julie Iacovazzi with school work ... I think we should name it after her :) .

I didn't have her as a teacher because I went to Washington Gladden. That said, I know many who did and they always spoke of her with such reverence. I also know her children who are both outstanding people and citizens. We need more people like Mrs. Lawrence in our classrooms. What a fitting tribute to a person who's legacy continues to give to those she touched.
