Connie was an inspiration to all. She was my 6th grade teacher, and my principal at Central School my first year of teaching. She was also a friend. She impacted so many lives in a very positive way. To name the school.after her is the perfect way to honor her memory.

Oh yes!! How could I forget how much she loved recounting the story of Sa Sa Na Loft!! In fact, Mrs. Lawrence chose to be buried only feet from the monument!!

I still use books in my classroom that she read to us in sixth grade. In fact, we're reading one now and my students love it! She had an infectious love for local history that needs to be continued!

Mrs. Lawrence as not only an educator , she lead the fight for girls athletic opportunities in the community such as softball being offered along with little league. She was a true visionary.

I hardly know where to begin. I first met Mrs. Lawrence when she became our principal at Central Elementary School. I was in 4th grade, and I had some issues I needed to deal with. Mrs. Lawrence invited my parents to her home on a Sunday afternoon to discuss my situation. At school, she brought me into her office, and we sat face to face in chairs that were away from her desk. She didn't sit behind her desk as many would. She took me seriously and spoke to me as a young adult. A few years later, she was my softball coach. I was probably one of the worst players on the team, but I NEVER felt that way. She gave us equal time on the field, no matter how good or bad we were, and yet we still had a winning season. When I reached high school, she was our varsity bowling coach. She worked us hard, but we had fun at the same time. We even beat our arch rival, U-E, in a 7 - 0 shut-out! When I was a senior at OFA, I joined the tutoring club, and was fortunate to be able to tutor in Mrs. Lawrence's 6th grade class at Owego North Elementary. Being in her classroom was a treat, and it was obvious that her students adored her. She genuinely LIKED her students, and I recalled how she related to me almost 10 years earlier. I became a teacher myself late in life, and at that point I realized just how much of her heart and soul she put into the young people of Owego.
