People in Connemara should reflect on who they cast their vote for. I'm not suggesting any alternatives, but that we are left in a situation like this without adequate essential services demonstrates that something is seriously wrong with how this country is managed and governed. Just lately funding was refused for Sligo airport which hosts a SAR helicopter which covers part of our area. So, don't place a number a beside who shouts loudest, put a number beside who actively works and gets demonstrable results.

It’s a insult to people to have such a terrible service., it’s a miracle no one has died yet. We had to call an ambulance for mother in law. It got lost. We have no mobile reception so they could not call. It took two hours to come. If anyone has a stroke it’s critical to get them to hospital within an hour.?

I was lucky last November when I had a heart attack at 1.30am in Clifden. Lucky there was an ambulance near by. Lucky that ambulance wasn't on another call to Galway, Castlebar, Westport or somewhere else. I am one of the very lucky ones to make it out the outside. I knew in the middle of it that I wouldn't last half an hour if there wasn't an ambulance available and quickly. The flip of a coin is all that was in it. It was very nearly lights out for me, but thank God for the actions of the ambulance crew that night. Thank God I've been lucky. Let's change the odds on the flip of that coin. Let's see this ambulance base built so that more lives will be saved and people won't just rely on the flip of that coin. Thanks so much to the Ambulance crew that night. I certainly know how very lucky I've been.

Have had experience of waiting hours for an ambulance for my mum and when it finally arrived and was driving to Galway Hospital, had to turn back to pick up another patient. Sadly, my mum died shortly afterwards.
