We are frequently left without any ambulance cover at all. Think about that. Thank you. Yet again another case in Connemara where there was a long and unacceptable delay in securing an ambulance, this time coming to the assistance of a Mother and baby in the Letterfrack area.
What if it were your child or grandchild?
How would you feel knowing the powers that be are not very interested or concerned - this is evident in so far as nothing has being done. Over recent years there have been many cases where seriously ill children, pregnant mothers, senior citizens, stroke victims and heart patients, to mention but a few, have had long and unacceptable delays in getting an ambulance to attend.
The Connemara Ambulance Crisis Group have been campaigning now for a number of years regarding the inadequate ambulance service in Connemara.
There can be a two to three, possibly four hour wait for an ambulance from Call Out Time to Time of Arrival at Patient.
This is due to the lack of cover in Connemara - one ambulance only in Clifden on duty at any time and one in Carraroe - BUT - those ambulances are frequently called away to service Galway and other parts of Connacht leaving us totally exposed without any cover. Hence the delay. That factor and also backlog of ambulances and delay at hospitals.
We enter yet another year of poor ambulance service. We ask you to sign our Petition for an adequate ambulance service. It's not a lot to ask for. You do not have to be from the area to sign. Thank you.

I have been reading through the messages you all are leaving and the stories of these wait times are truly heartbreaking. It is your determination to bring this to light that gives me the heart to keep pushing forward behind the scenes.

I honestly never imagined one hundred people would join in on this. Seeing this number climb is completely overwhelming because it shows how many of us have been worried about this for so long. This is really all down to your willingness to speak up.

Have had experience of waiting hours for an ambulance for my mum and when it finally arrived and was driving to Galway Hospital, had to turn back to pick up another patient. Sadly, my mum died shortly afterwards.
As a mother of a little boy with hlhs (half a heart) I'm deeply concerned about this, I have heard some awful stories about waiting hours for ambulance in the connemara area it's just not good enough people lives are at risk.
We need an ambulance here ready to be deployed at all times. When it's out on a call another ambulance should be making its way to man the station until the carriage designated one is back bit to be honest we need 2 ambulances on standby at all times here
I was waiting on the side of the road for nearly 2 hours three weeks ago after a serious accident in Carraroe waiting for the ambulance. when the station is 2 mins away. I could have died only for the Carraroe fire brigade crew.
This needs to be sorted my little lady waited over 2 hours for an ambulance in the end we had to find someone to drive us from Carraroe to the UCHG REGIONAL the ambulance met us near Barna before we met the ambulance 2 hours and 3/4 later
It's completely unacceptable that such a huge area is exposed to such delay for an ambulance. There's zero justifiable reason for this!!!

It is imperative that people can receive treatment within the "golden hour", the period of time following a traumatic injury when you receive pompt medical assistance, will drastically reduce the risk of dying.
