Connemara Ambulance Crisis - people's lives at risk

It's completely unacceptable that such a huge area is exposed to such delay for an ambulance. There's zero justifiable reason for this!!!

A NO BRAINER

I lost my best friend on Omey Strand many years ago due to an horrific accident. The only ambulance available was not close so the urgency of her care was prolonged significantly. The ambulance crew are incredible but for such a large area it is crazy there arent any more available. I thought after all these years things would have changed for the better butvlisteninv to the lady on Connemara fm (sorry I didnt catch her name) things seem to be going backwards. It's not good enough.

We need to be able to get an ambulance much quicker in an emergency

It is imperative that people can receive treatment within the "golden hour", the period of time following a traumatic injury when you receive pompt medical assistance, will drastically reduce the risk of dying.

My Mother, siblings, their children and grandchildren are at home in Connemara, the poor quality Cate is also a poor invitation for investment and possible relocation of businesses and families.

This is a vital service, please do what is right.

I have relatives in this area some of whom are likely to need this service due to their age. Ireland is a forward thinking country and should not offer it's citizens an unacceptable standard of care given the many options that could be used to improve this situation.

What happened with the planings for a new hospital in Clifden? That could change the situation.

It is desperately needed and having had to wait for ambulances before I am fully aware of the seriousness of being able to access an ambulance to get to hospital quickly.

There are many cases of patients in Connemara waiting over 2 hours for an ambulance in an emergency, it's an utter disgrace. This is due to severe under funding and under resourcing in Galway County and City ambulance stations by the HSE's National Hospital Office. Door to needle time in heart attack and stroke patients is critical (miocardial infarction patient incident to treatment time recommeded within 30mins, less than an hour for stroke). This must change immediately before more lives are unnecessarily lost!
