I rarely go political on here, but I can't sleep so here goes...

This IS the time to unite as a country to SUPPORT and encourage a HIGHLY DIVIDED Congress to HONOR this victims by HAVING THE TOUGH CONVERSATIONS. I am NOT against guns, mentally ill people, or poor law enforcement practices. But I am for improving the system by which individuals buy guns, for how we TREAT and CARE for mentally ill individuals, and how law enforcement can better SHARE and ACT on information on persons of interest. While the shooter "seemed to be normal" he bought guns in California, Nevada, Texas, and Utah. If I tried to get a driver's license in that many states, I'd be scrutinized pretty heavily...but apparently you can just buy guns in that many states without scrutiny. The FBI were scrutinizing a wire he sent to the Philippines, but had we had an improved and secure information sharing mechanism in place for federal, state, and local law enforcement that included driver's licenses, gun ownership, etc maybe the pieces of the puzzle might have looked a bit clearer.

Finally, my heart breaks for the victims of every mass shooting because they have yet to receive justice. As a very spiritual person and strong believer in God...I will say this: your thoughts, prayers, and condolences are comforting, but without any change are truly meaningless. If you really cared about the victims you would DO SOMETHING. WRITE TO YOUR U.S REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATOR. I bet you know where to find where your favorite sports player lives faster than you can find who your senator is. WRITE/CALL and make your voice heard in HONOR of those whose lives were lost so that we can enact REAL PREVENTATIVE CHANGE. Don't just tweet/Instagram/Facebook. That's not action. That's not brave. That's just jumping on the bandwagon waiting for the next "Pray for..." situation.
