As the former director of the human rights program I am shocked the university is not only summarily terminating employment -- showing the promises made to so many of us that contracts were not as temporary and uncertain as they appeared on paper clearly false-- but also the university has threatened with use of state police in this matter.

It is shameful that we treat people who make the university inhabitable that way and use the police force to negotiate with them!

The demands are too ambitious, especially that they are directed at an administration that simply does not care.

Then they came for the housekeeping workers, and we let it go, for it was easier than opposing the admin. Then they came with more cameras, and we let it go, for we..."

This is another expression of the academic overseers extending and intensifying their attack on workers.

I was an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science from 2011-13. I am horrified by this shameful series of decisions on the part of the university administration.
