A current estimate shows there are approximately 33K residents in Currituck County. I wonder how many are year-round residents? If such a dreadful plan goes through, WE the year-round citizens, will suffer MORE just for nature to do what she does anyway. I don't want to pay for a project of utter failure. I'm NOT a millionaire. We also don't want that stinkin bridge!

The only common sense approach is to not allow any house within 500 feet of the ocean. If your going to raise taxes, then spend it on pushing these houses and give the beach back to the people.

The humor in thinking menial amounts of sand placement will do anything to combat mother nature and/or the Ocean makes it hard to believe this is true. Then I simply think about Curritucks Representaives scoring 3,139/3,144 in combined IQ and this only validates the score significantly! They should simply allow more Ryan's homes neighborhoods in front of the nice homes because theyre only good for about a year until they are condemned due to structurally unfit.

The use of tax payer dollars to fund beach nourishment isn't in the best interest of the county. People choose to build in an unstable area. They have insurance to cover the loss of their property just like I do. If there is a risk of a tree falling on my home because I built near the natural wetlands is the county going to pay to cut down all the trees. No, I will have to cover the damage if it occurs. Just as a property owner should. It was my choice to build there and it is an unreasonable expectation to think the county should raise taxes to cover the cost.
