HISD Askew Elementary: Parent/Community Supports Having Homogeneous GT Vanguard Classrooms at Askew Elementary

We, the parents of Vanguard students at Askew Elementary, do hereby petition the Askew school administration and Houston Independent School District (HISD) administration to
(i) maintain Gifted and Talented (GT) Homogenous Classrooms as the GT instructional delivery model for the Vanguard Magnet program at Askew Elementary; and
(ii) ensure that all students in the Vanguard classrooms have qualified using the district's GT Identification Matrix as outlined in the HISD Standards for Vanguard Programs guideline.
We, the undersigned, support having the gifted and talented (GT) homogenous classrooms as the GT instructional delivery model for the Vanguard Magnet program at Askew Elementary.

The administration remains silent regarding our request for a formal meeting about the Vanguard program. Your persistence in advocating for the maintenance of homogeneous classrooms continues to define the urgency of this situation.

These kids worked hard to qualify. Don't take away the environment they need to learn.
My son needs the pace of the GT classroom to stay engaged. Mixing everyone together just makes the kids who are ready for more feel bored and frustrated.
