We cannot stress enough, how much we have value this program for our kids. It would be a tremendous disappointment, and not to mention a unwanted transition for our kids, whom thoroughly enjoy the inclusion of the Mandarin language into their lives, Also, to mention, we as families and as a school community, have worked so hard to provide. However, moving the program to the North does not cater, to what sounds to be, the majority of the Mandarin student, family, population. Please vote SOUTH

"staffing constraints" is not an excuse. CBE has to keep up with the demand and follow the commitment of promoting multiple culture.

A school in the North West is not a feasible consideration for those of us in the deep south. If the program is continuing to grow every year, then the demand is there for a school in the south.

It's totally not realistic for kids to spend hours a day on the transportation to and from school. Learning a language is a long term effort, if CBE don't have a convenient location to allow students keep learning Mandarin, that will result in parents give up the intention of putting their kids into bilingual program from beginning. Finally it will impact the current bilingual program in Midnapore School. I believe CBE is reluctant to see that happening.

Hi there, After a few years investigation, my wife and I decided to move and had moved into my current community, Evergreen in SW of Calgary, in 2013. One of the key reason we moved here is Evergreen is close to Midnapore school, where is supposed to provide the bilingual program from kindergarten to grade six, promised by CBE. We really like the current bilingual program in Midnapore. We can't accept the fact that both my kids will have to take a long ride on school bus to north of the city for school in thefuture . Or else, to provide higher level bilingual ( English & Mandarin) education, we will have to sell my current house and buy a new one in North of thecity . You know it must be painful. We think CBE should keep their promise for the current and future kids in Midnapore bilingual program and their families, and keep their promise to let calgary kids know that CBE can be trusted. Yours sincerely, Jianqiang Yang

As a parent of the bilingual program student, I would feel very disappointed if the middle school will move to north Calgary. Daily commute more than 2 hours for my daughter is totally not accepted. If the decision has made I will withdraw both my daughter in grade 5 and son in grade K from midnapore school. Please take our petition seriously and talk to the parents. Thanks.
