How are people supposed to commute to their jobs without public transit??

Disabled people need better than this to live normal, independent lives. These changes shut people into their homes and will come at severe cost to quality of life.

This is a reprehensible affront to the disabled community. Your buses jostle my body around and hurt to ride in, so I have no choice but to use RAP and TAP. I finally had the freedom I wanted for a decade, and now you've stolen it from me for the sake of budgeting.

As visually disabled citizen of Chicago, I heavily depended on the tap and rap program. But now with the limited amount of rides, it makes it hard to get around and do weekly task without the anxiety of running over your number of rides and being left with no other option. Public transportation is often not safe or kind to people with visual disabilities or disabilities in general so I usually go away from using that. I am very grateful for the opportunity that has been given in these programs if we could find a balance of more rides at least (50%) maybe at the same price It would help tremendously.

The Uber discount gave me my freedom again. I live on a fixed income and getting to the Doctor without this program would be $50-$60 round trip without the Uber/RAP program. That barely covers daily commuting needs, let alone errands, appointments, or any semblance of independence. My father-in-law, who is blind, relied heavily on this program to travel to and from work. It was his lifeline—his way of living independently and contributing to society without constantly needing to ask for help. This program was never a luxury. It was a necessity. Limiting it so drastically feels like a complete disregard for the needs and dignity of disabled individuals. Whoever made and approved this decision should be deeply ashamed for failing to consider the real-life impact it has on vulnerable members of our community. This is not just a policy change—it’s a step backward in accessibility, equality, and basic human decency. I urge you to reconsider and restore full support to the ADA transportation program. People’s livelihoods, independence, and dignity are at stake.

My son with autism relies on RAP to get to his day program and medical appointments. Please don’t cut RAP.
