Compromise for Childcare Centres and SD43 Elementary Schools

Before and after school care is a required service and should be accommodated by portables on school grounds and gym and library spaces can be used as well. This is for the benefit of our children - they are our future please invest in them!

Having over a hundred children looking for new childcare resources at the same time, in the same area, is not realistic.

I recognize that the School District feels no need to accommodate private businesses, but what about the parents in the local community? This is not about what NEEDS to be done, but what SHOULD be done. Parents caught in this situation deserve some consideration.

We need to support families all the times. Thus, we must provides benefits not complications. Avoiding any kind of complications as the School districts and not renewing their leases.

Finding affordable, safe child care is a continuing challenge in BC and long wait lists usually exist before being able to secure a spot. Eliminating the before and after school care and giving families very short notice to find alternatives puts extreme stress on families emotionally and possibly financially. I hope the school district will work with families to come together for a solution and the use of the gym facilities sounds like a viable option. I commend the staff at Leigh Elementary for supporting this option and hope other schools will follow suit to ensure childcare is available until a permanent solution is reached.

There is nothing worse for families then not having a safe place for your children to be cared for while you are trying to go to work! Please allow this solution!!!

We cannot afford to go backwards with regards to Children's Daycare. The upcoming BC Provincial Election has uncovered the need to invest in our children more heavily and this investment goes right down to how we care for our future before and after educational hours. Shame on the BC Liberals for nickel and diming us!

My own children went to Quilchena Elementary in the 80's where the school arranged to lease out the gym for After-school care. Make it so. Be progressive. Try to keep up with the 80's Mountain Meadows

Please don't leave families without child care!

Think of the families and the children. The daycares must be preserved!

I work in sd43 and see how convenient it is to have parents picking up children from both daycare and school at the same time. I just don't see why we would want to make parents lives more difficult than it already is....
