I came to Australia with the Big Brother Movement [what a farce] and arrived in February 1965 in Fremantle. On the way over I seemed to be singled out as the odd one and had little support on the trip over. On arrival in Fremantle a day trip was orgasnised to visit persons here I was left out, Our next port of call was Melbourne and again a trip was organised and I was left out.
In Sydney I stayed at the Burwood Hostl and was sexually abused by the person in charge his name was Mr Hickey. While our was their he also hit one of the other bays fracturing his skull

I discovered about this horrendous secret in the early 1990's, and have visited several websites on this awful subject. What touched me most was a woman in her early fifties, orginally from Plympton, in Devon, United Kingdom, saying tht she wanted to go home and wanted to get back to UK, I sent a message back saying she needed to get in touch with the Child Migrants Trust and I could find addresses she could write to or 'phone. So far the website has refused to publish my advice. I wonder WHY??? I would like to do everything that I can to help these unfortunate people.....

I have a friend who was brought to Australia as an eight year old. Although not sexually abused his family, his identity, his social, emotional, physical development were taken from him. This is abuse!
He is highly intelligent and self educated but with no qualifications as his whole life has been one of survival.
Now retired, like most of these victims of crime he is in his 70s and both the UK and Australian Governments should be giving these people the money to build what they couldn't build in their active years.

I do not understand why the Bristish Government can engage in such a venal activity, keep it quiet for 30 years and not consider reparation to victims for a morally indefensible activity is an insult to the victims.
As for the charities and organisations receiving monies for sending and accepting these child is no different to child trafficking.
There purpose of the law is to protect the vulnerable and yet we find a group enterprise that resulted in at the very least the removal of a many children's identities and even worse some children were subjected to physical, sexual and emotional abuse.
Any apology but the PM and the leader of the oppostion are vacuous if no assistence has been offered to help these deported children rebuilt their lives.
Where was the National Society for the Protection of Cruety to Children in the decades that this atrocious activity of deporting children was going on. Why ain't they more vocal justice for these children.
God bless Margaret Humphries.

I've suddenly begun thinking about the lady in the 1997 TV documentary who was separated from her twin sister. Ican't tell you how upset I am by this. I can't bear to write what I remember her saying.

My best and closest friend is UK's version of their Stolen Generation. I always wondered why she always showed compassion to Aboriginal people. I had the shock of my life when she told me her story, never whinges at all in spite of her hard journey. I salute her and all who have survived and have gone onto to have a "Life" in Australia, we love you and glad your in Australia, you make us what we are.

This scheme that enabled children to be relocated to Australia without their consent and understanding was child abuse. Compensation must be paid to assist to alleviate their suffering. An apology is not enough.

The time is now, U.K. together with Australian Government to recognise they made bad decisions that effected the Child Migrants lives FOREVER. The perpetrators that were in Government at time of this decision are dead but that does not there is NO accountability, as the victims are ALIVE and deserve restorative JUSTICE.....APOLOGIES are all about talkfest not victims as individual people.
