We the undersigned, residing in Community Board 3 in New York City, strongly object to the issuance of a new liquor license for the applicant Michael Shah of "Orchard Street Social" at 130 Orchard Street:

  • Full liquor license for co-working "eat, work, play" venue
  • Cuisine: international comfort food, sandwiches, small bites"
  • Hours of operation: 9am - 2am (all nights)
  • 5,000 square-feet on street level
  • 2,000 square-feet in the cellar
  • 3 stand-up bars
  • Security guards stationed outside premises
  • Open windows / doors (street level); closing at 10pm
  • 4 Large Television screens and projectors
  • DJs, live music, scheduled, promoted events & cover charges ("for charity")

It is not in the public interest or public convenience to issue another on-premise license in area already overwhelmed with 41 on-premise licenses within 500 Ft. An additional license on Orchard Street between Rivington and Delancey, will negatively impact traffic that is already severely compromised by visitors, taxis, and delivery trucks that congest roadways and public walkways.

2am is way too late for this street. Between the music and the constant delivery trucks blocking traffic it is already a nightmare. enough is enough.

We already have too many bars on this block. It is impossible to walk home at night with all the crowds and noise from the other places. We do not need another one.
