Anti semitism has been accepted for far too long in local schools. Jewish students deserve the same protections against racism and hate as every group.

As a BHS grad and parent of four BHS grads, I am deeply saddened and concerned by BUSD’s lack of protection for and seeming lack of concern for Jewish students’ safety. I hope the BUSD will rapidly convene the requested listening meetings with Jewish BUSD families, and with Jewish clergy.

BUSD, you need to do better. Call out Antisemitism explicitly. The interim-principal of BHS just sent out a very generic "BHS Stands Together Against Hate" email, without actually naming what is happening at the school. This is unacceptable. BUSD needs to say it very clearly, that the district is committed to protecting its Jewish students from inflammatory and hateful rhetoric, just as it is committed to protecting ALL its students.

Thanks mom. We are horrified. I know several families who have removed the mezuzas from their front doors, removed their jewelry that identifies their Jewish identity, and tucked away their kids’ Kadima, JCC, Camp Kee Tov, and Camp Towanga t-shirts. This is absolutely earth shattering.
I would be happy to help provide materials to help inform the BUDS community of our experience, values, and history - including the history of Israel. And I would also be happy to help frame conversations and widespread messaging to restore harmony and a sense of safety. We are truly afraid.
