There is no possible argument for why a gun shop should be allowed to be so close to a school. Frankly, I would be happy with no gun shop in Arlington period. I am happy to have the revenues from that business go to Fairfax county.

Wrong kind of business for our community. Legal does not mean peaceful or wise. Or wanted...

The valley is clean now of violence. We do not need anytrhing that would encourage it again.

I support the Nauck Civc Association in this petition. I live nearby and respect the civic association's need for input for their own community. Residents should have a right to know if a gun store is being located nearby.

I do not want a gun shop near my home in South Arlington!

I stand in support of the Nauck Civic Asociation; and ask that the Arlington County Board, the owner of the Shirlington Heights Condominiums, Michael Griffin and the potential leasee that a more suitable location for a gun shop be found.

Criminals don't get weapons from gun stores. Police, military, and citizens and residents who pass FBI background checks do.

The purpose of guns is to protect innocent life. This is why police have them, isn't it? Protecting innocent life is a good thing.

Criminals don't get their guns from gun stores. Military, police, and private citizens and residents who have passed FBI background checks do. Your bigotry is uncalled for. I hope we can keep this conversation civil.

Why not a tutoring center to assist the students at the community schools?

Ex-cons don't buy guns as gun shops. They can't. It's illegal, and no business owner would jepordize his business and risk a jail sentence, nevermind the fact that it's a horrible and immoral thing to do. The people who will patronize this shop are your friends and neighbors: police officers, military personnel, and private citizens and residents who have passed thorough background checks proving they are not felons, violent criminals, sex offenders, or people who have been sent to mental hospitals can buy guns and other tools for self defense and defense of their community.

We do. I say this as a mother of a preschooler. We need a place where police officers, military personnel, and private citizens and residents who have passed thorough background checks proving they are not felons, violent criminals, sex offenders, or people who have been sent to mental hospitals can buy guns and other tools for self defense and defense of their community.

I live in the neighborhood and have family that are gun owners, hunters, law enforcement. I do not agree with a gun shop going in a neighborhood with an elementary school about 2 blocks away, and a half way house for ex-convicts one block away. This shop should be put more in a commercial setting and not at the bottom of an apartment complex. I am in favor of a coffee shop, too.

? Many of your neighbors are gun owners. The police you hope will protect you are gun owners. But you may not want someone with a gun to protect you from harm, and I respect that. I don't understand it, but I respect it. I want the right to protect my son. I am his mother, and a gun is the best tool I can use to protect him in certain situations.

I am a mother in North Arlington. Please send the gun shop here. I'll have a shorter distance to travel to patronize the business.

I agree. We need to be able to protect ourselves.

I am a mother, and I teach my son that guns are a tool that we use to protect ourselves and our communities. Parents, the police, and the military have guns to protect us. I tell my son I will protect him and have the means to do so. I would love to be able to patronize a business so close to my home at the same time.

Guns are more than "instruments of death". Guns save lives. I could protect myself and my son from a murderer. There is a strong culture of hunting here in Virginia. Guns I buy at this store could help me feed my son. I want to be able to bike to the store with my son, where I will buy what I may need to use to protect my son.
