Your Excellency; I humbly an prayerfully ask that you faithfully and humbly consider the request of this heartfelt and solemn petition to your seat of authority to reinstate the ability for the faithful to receive the Most Holy Eucharist on the tongue. Beloved Pastor of Souls, please reinstate what The Holy Catholic Church has established as the Canonical norm by which we faithful are to receive the sacred Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ; our Paschal Lamb of God. That manner which is, of course, on the tongue. As stated in our petition, it is the manner in which all the faithful have to right to receive our Lord in Holy Communion. It is with great sorrow that many of us faithful have had to be denied Holy Communion simply because we strongly desire to receive our Lord in this most humble manner. I so desire to be able to place myself humbly before our Eucharistic Lord on my knees and receive him directly into my mouth much like the prophet Ezekiel received the "Word of God" when our Lord God says to him... "“Now you, son of man, listen to what I am speaking to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you.”. ( Ez 2:8) May the Holy Spirit of God lead you to discern to no longer deny those faithful the right that they possess by the decree of our Holy Mother Church. ( Redemptionis Sacramentum – 92,)
May the Holy Spirit be with you my dear Pastor of Souls.
Respectfully, Your servant in Christ; Ray Tovar

I will echo comments I made below in the unfortunate correction of deacon Schroader. Please do the right thing and end this non-sense now! Stand up for the truth of Jesus Christ! I mean this as respectfully as I can. To be very very very very clear you CAN NOT get COVID-19 in the Holy Eucharist. It is the Body and Blood of Christ! The Holy of Holies! Jesus touched the leper and he was healed! He heals us in his Sacraments! The Eucharist is Sacramental participation in the liturgy of Heaven. The Cherubim and Seraphim surround the most Sacred Mysteries! The Eucharist on the tongue sustained our saints for centuries! Read the stories of the saints who communed Lepers and other highly contagious people. Read of the times our faithful saintly priests consume his Body and Blood after being spit out by Lepers!! Or thrown-up by ebola patients. And we wonder why the faithful dont believe! We wonder why the faithful leave?! ALL UNORDAINED AND UNBELIEVEING DIRTY HANDS SHOULD NOT DISTRIBUTE THE HOLY EUCHARIST. Where are all the break outs of COVID in the TLM parishes? Where are all the break outs in the East in our Orthodox Brothers churches since they have been receiving on the common spoon? Their laity shout "heretic" from pews when weak priests and deacons like youself introduce disposable spoons at the insistence of Bishops compromised by secular pressure. Be the Sheppard your Holy Church needs!! Stand up for the truth!! End the angst in the laity!! As a young father we bed you for the sake of our children to use your position to restore the Church! Be a guiding light and point your flock to Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist instead of gloves, masks, protocol etc or lose the Church!! If you would like to have further discussion please feel free to call me 325-374-7596

The Catholic laity is moving back towards reverence and orthodoxy. The liberal theology that has permeated the Church is being seen for what it is, a lie. Archbishop, join the fullness of Truth or be left behind. With my deepest love for your soul, Ralph Tovar.

There are churches who ONLY give communion in the mouth and no cases have been reported!! What would Jesus do??? What would Mary do? She wouldn’t dare take her own sons precious body in her hands!

The Holy Eucharist, the Host, is literally Flesh, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Holy God Jesus Christ. We ask that we be allowed to receive Him in the most reverential manner; He certainly deserves no less.

I am making this comment because I am very concerned. When we give communion by mouth there are those times when our fingers will come into contact with the one receiving. It is entirely possible that anything micro-scopic could pass to another. And then there are those few times when some one will cough during communion. All I want to know before I say yes, is for someone to forward to me the findings of competent medical research to say this is OK. God forbid I do not want to be the one who passes the disease to another. It is my desire to provide communion by mouth, so long as someone is not put into jeopardy.
In the love of Christ

Archbishop Gustavo, I am old enough to remember the only way communion could be received was on the tongue. Please allow the parishioners who want to again receive on the tongue to be able to do so. Respectfully, Sara Peters

It is important you give people this option. Communion on the tongue is long and pious practice that has deep significance to so many! There is absolutely no known safety risk as determined by the CDC and many medical professionals in the infectious disease field. Why are so many people that want this routinely ignored? All of the people need to be considered and helped.

Dear Excellency, thank you for prayerfully taking this petition into consideration. I received my First Communion in the Philippines on my tongue at the age of 8 and have done so all my life. I made a promise to Our Lady to continue this blessed tradition of receiving her Eucharistic Son only in this manner. There have been many families that have moved from our Archdiocese to other ones because of this change. So, we join you in prayer as you discern this petition. Thank you. Our Lady of Guadalupe be with you.

Holy Communion via the priest's consecrated hands [freshly washed in blessed/holy water], straight to the tongue of the recipient, is far more reverential than via other means. It is if anything, safer, regarding the COVID issue, which is anyway rather over-hyped. There are also a number of other reasons why reception on the tongue should be the re-promoted method.
