The restriction on receiving Communion on the tongue has been officially lifted. It was an exhausting struggle to reach this point but I am glad we stayed the course until the right was recognized. We should remain vigilant to ensure this policy holds firm for everyone.

Archbishop Gustavo-Garcia Siller,

We, the Laity of the One Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church respectfully request that you reverse your decree banning Holy Communion on the tongue without delay. Redemptionis Sacramentum – 92, “… each of the faithful always has the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, at his choice…” Your Excellency, this is not a matter of safety. Even the USCCB has determined that communion on the tongue does not pose any more of a risk than receiving on the hand. Other North American dioceses, many in Texas as close as Austin are permitting reception on the tongue with no restrictions. We do not view the reception on the tongue as a dispensable act of piety, but as an indispensable sign of our deep respect and love for Jesus in the Eucharist. How can we, "the faithful", in good conscience continue to support this diocese financially when it no longer supports us in this basic right within our own faith? Reception of Holy Communion on the tongue is still the "norm". Again, we ask that you return to us the choice to receive the precious, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ in the manner in which we feel the summit and source of our faith deserves; on our knees and on the tongue.

The Faithful Laity of the Holy Catholic Church

The exhaustion is setting in but we cannot afford to stop now. We are almost at two hundred fifty signatures and reaching that mark will force them to pay attention to our request.

If priest really believed in the true presence we would not have to sign this petition. Jesus can never make anyone sick through receiving him. Maria Mikula

It is worthy to note that even the USCCB's commissioned study found that there is no significant risk of spreading the Coronavirus via Communion on the tongue versus in the hand. There are several studies which indicate that Communion in the hand is more dangerous, so one would wonder why hasn't that been banned??

It breaks my heart to see people unable to receive Our Lord and solemnly doing a Spiritual Communion instead of going against their conscience to receive in the hand. These are good people being denied the Eucharist. Jesus said "Take and Eat" and they are being denied because of this decree.

Your Excellency, With all due respect and humility, I come as a beggar to you to give me back my Lord Jesus. My soul is desolate without Him. Dear Son of Mary, please reinstate immediately communion on the tongue! Hear the pleas of your flock! Gratefully yours, Carol Queener+

Archbishop Gustavo, I am old enough to remember the only way communion could be received was on the tongue. Please allow the parishioners who want to again receive on the tongue to be able to do so. Respectfully, Sara Peters

I have begun attending Mass in another Diocese where I can receive On the tongue and will continue to attend there and support that Diocese as long as necessary.

From LIfeSite News article Sep/21/2020: "In June, 21 Austrian doctors quoted the professional opinion of Professor Filippo Maria Boscia, the president of the Association of Catholic Doctors of Italy who stated in May that “Communion on the tongue is safer than hand Communion.”" and "Furthermore, the medical doctors also point out that Switzerland never put a ban on Communion on the tongue and never experienced a spike in infections due to the practice of Communion on the tongue."
