Absolutely the public should have been involved in this decision. Preserving and protecting Pilot Butte and the surrounding nature should be the city's top priority.

The City of Bend needs to stop making decisions without giving the people a chance to voice an opinion and vote. It is only about money for you and developers. To think that you would even consider building anything near the line of a cherished State Park is appalling. Shame on you!

Good morning everyone. Please keep getting people to sign the petition. It's even more important now. My husband just sent a formal request to Bend City Planning asking them to reopen the public input process. He said we have to give them a chance to do the right thing before I start talking with civic leaders. He said he was able to make a very good case based on the petitions and mostly based on the comments people left. Those comments are clearly optional and more than half of the people who signed left comments. He told City Planning that the comments demonstrate both the depth and breadth of people's concerns.

It must have to do with the internet provider or something like that. We're in La Pine right now and the only way it could possibly know that is we're using free wifi. Also, some people from Sunriver signed and they got listed as La Pine. Must just be a technical glitch that came about when they made the petition easy to sign.

Carpool parking on the other side of the highway would also be great as a way to reduce the traffic level in upcoming years and make the growth more fluid.

What we need there is a bike shop or some kind of center for alternative (green) transportation. Its a great spot for that with the tunnel being so close. Zone it mixed commercial use and make that sort of change instead. Bike paths are widened recently (even all the way to Reed Market, Newport, & Franklin) to that area as well so it would be a good fit.

I live at the Commons Apts. They are over crowded as it is and parking is a major issue here. There is no way Linnea can handle that much traffic or a construction zone. This area is not the answer for the housing problem. You need to expand some place else or change the growth boundary line - this is ridiculous.

Seems to me as if this is just one more example of GREED...from the cicy as well as developers (Probably from CA)! This area cannot handle the additional impact, and I agree that 4 stories are too high! Protect this treasure!

PLEASE! I'm 50 yrs old this year. I'm a 5th generation Bendite. My great, great grandmother came across the Oregon trail and was one of the first two families that settled here. My grandkids are 7th generation Bendites. We want our voices and opinions to matter to how OUR CITY is being developed! We love our city ♡ Please, I'm begging you... let our voices count. Don't choose ruining our beautiful city for money!

It seems some steps and procedures have been overlooked. I would like to see more research and questions answered before this process goes any further.

Pilot Butte is a Bend landmark and park. Don't ruin it more than it already has been by layering up large apartments at its base. Head further East or South!!!

Pilot Butte is our one beautiful, high spot on the east side of Bend. As a 75 year resident of beautiful Bend, I truly hope that some of the rare spaciousness of the area can be preserved for the many, many people who enjoy this desert lava butte.

There are other sites more appropriate than this! Plus, it's setting a terrible precedent to allow these buildings to exceed city code! We don't have effective design standards in place anyway in Bend, and exceeding the code just acerbates the problem adding height to what will already be inappropriate structures for that location.
This must be reconsidered!

I live close to this already underfunded park. This sounds unhealthy for my neighborhood on many levels. There is already a distinct lack of existing traffic control and representation on the East side.
I pay attention and I vote!
