Do NOT reauthorize the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act). ALLOW Anita Hoge's testimony to be heard on Tuesday, and DO NOT PASS THIS REAUTHORIZATION.

A total waste of tax payers dollars. Amazing how private, parochial, home school, and Christian excel on a shoe string budget. Keep the feds out of education nation wide.

Equity and equality does not mean equal outcomes but equal treatment. Quit ruining schools and education. Innovation, invention, and critical thinking skills were key to American economic growth and have been for every nation in history.

I think the common core is hurting our children more than helping them learn.

Education should never be state controlled - Parents have a God-given right to be the decision makers in their kids education.

Common core is not learning. There are right and wrong answers. There are winners and losers. You can't be a cashier and decide the change owed is less or more than it is just so because you feel like it. You are not preparing these children for the reality of life, work, budgeting, having a family and supporting them.

Education today is definitely lacking from 10 years ago. I have 2 children 10 years apart. We are finding that we have to educate the youngest with all the information as a lot is missing from the standards. There are a lot of holes. I am not sure what is happening in the education world. I took the time to read the state standards and common core as well as looked over several of the different textbooks in math, social studies. Things are definitely missing in the new books for continuity of learning. I am not an educator but it is quite evident that things are not going in the right direction.

Please make Minnesota one of the increasing number of States that will not participate in Common Core. My children and our country's future deserve better.

I was told last week at parent teacher conferences that 85% of my children's grades are based on test scores, 10% on homework and only 5% on participation. My 8th grade daughter is on an IEP due to severe dyslexia and a memory processing disorder. She is currently failing due to her inability to test well. This literally means that students are being set up to fail, most kids do not test well and typically compensate with homework, class participation and extra credit, all of which are no longer applicable. This is a TRAVESTY! How can we stop this, I want my daughter to succeed and at this point the school is setting her up to fail!
