With a recent move to Palo Alto, California, Jordan Middle School has ordered him to transfer to a vicinity three miles away as Colman carries the gene for cystic fibrosis. He does not actually have the disease and does not show any symptoms. Cystic fibrosis is not contagious, but there are risks of cross-infection. However, Colman has shared former schools with other students of the genetic condition and it has never posed any threat to anyone.
Jordan Middle School claims that Colman must be removed because a number of other students at the school already have the disease and there are certain risks. The school gave no reason why those students were not a threat to each other.
In a recent news report, Colman said "I was sad but at the same time I was mad because I understood that I hadn't done anything wrong. It feels like I'm being bullied in a way that is not right."
Jennifer Chadam, Colman's mother, told the San Francisco Chronicle: "They made this decision without seeing one medical record on my son. If I felt Colman was a risk to others, I would move him. I don't want anyone to get sick."
They are waiting for a court ruling next Thursday (October 25th).
This decision made by Jordan Middle School is unfair. The Chadams are great friends to many and all would agree that Colman and his family do not deserve this treatment. Help stop this unjust act by signing.

We are currently preparing formal documentation to submit to the school district regarding their lack of medical evidence in this removal decision. Counsel is reviewing our correspondence options while we await the upcoming court proceedings.

The administration can no longer ignore the visibility this petition has generated. Our legal team is incorporating these arguments into the filings for our upcoming court appearance.

Unbelievable. Jordan Middle School needs to get their facts straight. Zero evidence of a risk here.
This is just plain discrimination. Since when does a school board get to play doctor without even looking at a medical file. Let the boy stay in his school!
