Nothing can replace the knowledge and research skills of an elementary school librarian. They are a necessity for the success of the students, staff, and faculty. Eliminating librarians is an incredible and dangerous disservice.

Literacy (including information literacy) is essential to a functioning democracy

My wife ran the library at ZN as a volunteer for several years and while it was a positive experience for her and her fellow volunteers, it would have been so much more with a professional librarian leading the effort. My elementary school had a library, an auditorium, a gym, and a cafeteria. In 1979. Why should we sette for less?

Libraries are essential in a child's learning experience. Research skills and the love of reading are important in having students being lifelong learners.

What a loss for the students and families in Collingswood to not have school libraries.

My husband and I are both former Collingswood residents. Our children would have gone to Tatum. It astounds me that had that happened, my kids would have had no library.

Librarians are essential.

I can't imagine a school without a library. What kind of world would that be? In the supposed greatest nation on Earth?

School libraries are the greatest means to transform learning in a school. They must be preserved by any means necessary.

Please visit libraries and see what they actually do. They are so much more than reading materials. They are centers of intelligence and education.

Libraries? Full of wisdom and opportunity, with people there to help unlock their power? YES PLEASE. Libraries are safe places for many students, as I remember so many friends from my high school retreating there, avoiding toxic social situations in the cafeteria. Why do we even need to explain this?
