Studies have proven that schools with libraries and certified librarians will earn higher scores on standardized tests. That is secondary to the fact that a librarian will keep the collection current and form bonds with students while discussing the perfect book for the child. Helping students find a lifelong love of reading should be EVERYONE'S goal.

As a school librarian myself, a certified librarian is crucial for students to develop a reading life and 21st century research skills.

Don't close school libraries you are hurting your students. This is when they learn to read and get their love of books.

in our day and age of constant technology, a good paper back book could work wonder for our children of the area! I feel it is incredibly important for children to have access to knowledge at their finger tips, via physical resources other than their cellphone

The school librarian is uniquely placed to support teaching and learning in all areas of the National Curriculum, not just English, as well as the wider school curriculum. Where the library is fully integrated into the life and ethos of the school, the potential benefits that a good professional partnership with the teaching staff can bring to the quality of teaching should not be underestimated. School libraries are so important! They should be the hub of all learning in your schools. So much takes place there! Students learn how to research, choose books, and learn about being a responsible citizen. Reading will take your students to any place in the world and will help them develop their imagination. Please consider the injustice that would be done to the students in your community if you take away this important learning space.

The library was my life when I attended school in Collingswood. I can’t imagine how students can be expected to succeed academically without a school library, let alone stretch their imaginations, explore new worlds, and become interesting and productive citizens of their communities.

Nothing good ever comes from denying students access to library services. Libraries and trained librarians are consistently undervalued in this country.

There is so much evidence to show that schools with strong library collections and properly trained librarians improve student outcomes. Don't do your students and the future of your town, state and country a disservice by eliminating this vital part of education.

I fully understand why Tatem needed to dismantle its library. But that being said, if it is a known fact that there is a lack of space issue, let alone a ADA issue, why keep adding more programs that require more space. The stage, hallways, library, art/music room...all being used already. Is there a possibility for an expansion, somehow (also knowing the lack of land outdoors)?
