Due to CoVid 19 and college campus shutdowns, students are unable to visit schools -- a crucial part of their college decision process.
May 1st is the current deadline to accept college offers. This decision is way too important to make without a campus visit. Virtual tours aren't the same as being there.
We are seeking an extension of the deadline to at least June 1st. Hopefully campuses reopen in May and are allowing visitations.
The momentum behind this petition proves that colleges cannot keep ignoring our reality. University administrators are hiding behind their arbitrary deadlines while we are left to gamble our futures on virtual tours that mean nothing.

Kids are making a decision for the next 4 years that will affect the rest of their lives. It’s not their fault that this virus is closing down the country. Allow them time to be able to see campuses for themselves.

This is also important because of the current financial uncertainty. College cost is another part of the decision. Markets in turmoil, recession looming, postponing the decision while people get a better idea of their financial situation is important too. No college wants a student who has to drop out because they can't afford to go there.

As pointed out by other petitioners, seeing the campus of colleges and the ability to speak with current students plays an important role in making a choice with regard to not only the next four years of ones life but for many years thereafter. Schools that have shut down campuses and thus impeding this important aspect in making the decision as to which college to attend should at least extend their decision deadline by the same amount of time the campus is closed.

Please everyone sign this. We need to have our kids, friends kids all kids be able to make a decision without being rushed into it. They deserve the process many of us have gone through. They should be able to see what each college that they are interested has to offer. They should be able to compare, be informed and make a well thought out decision. After all it’s their 1st step into the world, working towards the rest of their life!!!!!!

The world has been making adjustments and I truly hope the colleges will make proper adjustments for these upcoming students as well. This should be such an exciting time for them and it is so important to find the proper fit!
