What is the reasoning behind these eligibility guidelines, aside from preserving the status quo? Elected offices need to be accountable at all times, and having an annual election should be part of our democratic process.

Any member of the college who has the ability to serve its members and the public should be allowed to become a member of the board and every board member is accountable . This is democracy not heirachy .

I am cautiously optimistic that The College will listen to the voices of their members appealing for a calm rethink of their proposed changes that on the surface are patently undemocratic and exclusary.

There is no reason why a dentist whom had not met the "eligibility criteria" would not be a good executive board leader. Such thinking would not let someone like Prime Minister Justin Trudeau or American President Obama rise to leadership. There are many bright leaders amongst us dentists. Let democracy reign.

The fact that the College feels that they have to limit potential election candidates to those who they hand pick for College sub-committees shows the total contempt they have for the general members who are paying for their salaries.

To whom it concerns.
With the arrival of a new bureaucracy, a distinct vicissitude has occurred at the College. There is little sagacity, if any in their recent legislation. This current proposal is nothing further than the bureaucratic administration's attempt to surround themselves with sycophants. To suggest this is good governance is in reality a way of destroying the democratic process, and is yet another example of the disrespect this current college holds towards the members of the profession.Nothing undermines leaderships effectiveness like "yes men" who fear expressing dissent
Respectfully submitted.

Arbitrary denial of eligibility for College Board positions, arbitrary limitation of eligibility for the position of Treasurer, and reduced accountability of elected officers with no evidence presented to support this position. Democracy is messy, but it is best option.......always.

The college has been operating arbitrarily with disregard to the facts and truthful realities of the issues they claim are essential for the protection of the public, yet they are doing just the opposite and harming the profession at the same time. T
