We, the undersigned, require at the European Union Countries to mint a coin in commemoration of the centenary of Alan Turing birth on 2012 Alan Turing was a mathematician, logician, and codebreaker. Thanks to his genius it was possible to defeat Enigma, the nazi cipher machine, and win the World War II. He is considered among the most great mathematician of his time; his work is at the foundations of computer science and artificial intelligence. After the war, Turing designed the Automatic Computing Engine (ACE), the first computer able to run a program stored in memory. During '50s he was persecuted for his homosexuality and forced to chemical castration to avoid imprisonment. His breast started to grow and he became impotent due to the cruel treatment with hormones . On June 7 1954 Alan Turing, suicided himself by eating a poisoned apple Only in 2009 Gordon Brown on behalf British Government presented its formal apologies after a great internet campaign and international petition We think the European Nations that suffered for nazi occupation and were rescued also thanks to his contributions as cryptographer, should pay homage with a coin in commemoration of the centenary of his birth on 2012
