Theater has been a staple to the CoD series, ever since the release of Black Ops 1. The latest, "next-gen" addition to the series, will not have theater mode implemented. Theater mode was great for everybody, whether you wanted to show your friend some cool kills you got, or if you wanted to record clips and upload them to YouTube.
