Coast Dairies National Monument? - Not So Fast

I feel strongly that the push to make Coast Daries a National Monument is premature. The star of the National Parks in Santa Cruz County is already suffering from understaffing. Please do not do this . The impact could be potentially devasting.

I believe the great influx of people and development to support them that would come with imposing a national monument here would have a devastating impact on the ecology of the region. The local communities have done a fine job of stewarding the environment for generations, which is in great part why the area remains so unique and pristine. We don't need the boom town rush of a national monument, but the slow, local, controlled recreational growth which we already have occurring. Please don't use our communities and environmental heritage for your own personal political reasons, for you will be doing more harm than good.

I don't believe we need a National Monument to protect the Coast Dairies land. It will have too great of an impact on the actual physical property plus will negatively affect the bordering communities of Bonny Doon, Davenport and Swanton with the increase of a continuous influx of automobiles through our residential neighborhoods resulting in higher fire danger, auto accidents and crime.

Regional approach and especially detailed environmental study are ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY before any national monument status.

I support this petition: we should slow this all down and review our options. Also, as a land owner and family that live in this area, we should study to understand the long term impact to us, the residents.

I absolutely agree! Everyone agrees that a Monument brings more people and most are seeing that every other 'benefit' is far outweighed by the impacts to wildlife that this threat poses.

I urge to not take hasty action, but to take the time to make sure we are protecting this area. I understand that National Monument status will not add any protections to the area, but may tend toward overuse. thank you.

Please acknowledge work already accomplished by local groups who obtained a BLM designation for this property. Much incorrect information is out there so slowing this National Monument issue down would help in communication between groups who want the best protection and safe public access for this land. Thank you

I don't need my community or my privacy compromised just so O'Bama, Boxer & Eshoo can leave a legacy! Take time and figure out all the negative and positive "unintended" consequence.

Animals need a home without crowds of people so they too can thrive!

What is the rush? Retain local control for now

Keep the north coast under local control.

Let's wait until we know what the impact is.

I am in support of protecting this fragile bio diverse Coast Dairies property.

Let's work to fund the state parks better and then perhaps this site would be more appropriate as one of the constellation of state parks in the area, rather than being singled out and drawing lots of non-locals to an area with fragile habitat, a lack of parking areas, supervision, developed trails or space and funds for same, etc...

Environmental planning, impact and review matters.

We have so few undisturbed areas left for wildlife to inhabit. Please leave this area alone.
