John Loonam. Class of 1986.
Sounds like an overeaction on the part of the administration. My feeling is Chaminade does not practice what it preaches. Even if Mister Pomponio made a mistake, which it does not appear he actually did, the fact that this severe disciplinary action has been taken without any chance for redemption, especially after being a part of the "Chaminade Family" for so long, flies in the face of forgiveness; which is one of the tenets Chaminade taught. My recent experience with this School, along with this situation with Mister Pomponio, has me reconsidering my positive image of this institution.

Coach Pomps. Coached my son only for a year, but we could see what everyone is saying. Pomps is a great coach and human being. I am saddened and frustrated that this has happened to him. It is unjust.

What happened to the days where the student that had enough moxey to record him would be reprimanded? Such a shame...

Coach Pomponio is a terrific coach and teacher who has faithfully served the Chaminade family for 36 years. Coach Pomps was a tough disciplinarian and he held us accountable for our actions. But he did so with honesty, compassion and a sense of humor. Coach Pomps always had our best interests at heart. As a young student I’m sure I didn’t appreciate Coach at the time. But now as a father of two boys and a part time coach, I am grateful for what he instilled in us. Sometimes you need to get teenage boys’ attention. Indeed, it sounds like tough love is exactly what those Chaminade players needed at the time. Suspending Coach Pomponio over the use of language heard in any PG-13 movie is an extreme overreaction. Not only is it a disservice to Coach Pomps, it deprives the players of a wonderful coach and teacher.
Chaminade - please reinstate Coach Pomponio immediately!
Coach Pomps - thanks for all you did for me!

Money talks gentlemen, this petition is a great start but I'd recommend cancelling and contribution to CHS until there is some resolution on this. In an effort to make sure I/we are fully informed, is the entire reason for this firing related to the audio clip that was leaked?
Every memory I have of Pomps is of a funny, genuine and caring coach and teacher, I hope this works!

In todays world a coach/teacher/mentor who cares as much and has as much passion as Coach Pomponio should be lauded. Not just there to collect a paycheck, but actually trying to teach boys how to be men and take some responsibilty for their actions should be the norm, not the exception. Do the boys a favor and re-instate Coach Pomponio so he can continue the excellent work he has been doing for decades.

Coach Pomponio is a fine man who has helped build many good young in the years as a coach. I find it disgraceful that he is being asked to resign for trying to build character in the young men under his supervision.

Coach Pomps, in my opinion, is the embodiment of what a coach should be. A Chaminade without him coaching is truly a lesser one.
