I shall take the 30,000 plus dollars a year I spend and attend another college. This is a disgrace for a school with a strong conservation department.

This is not a good idea in the short run. It could very well be a disastrous one in the long run.

Please preserve this valuable natural resource and protect the wildlife (plants and animals) and the water quality of the rivers fed from this property.

As a professor in the N.C. State College of Natural Resources said earlier, the selling of such a "diamond in the rough" would be hypocritical and entirely contrary to the University's professed values. If the University truly wants to be a steward of our region's natural resources, it should not sell such a natural treasure for mere monetary profit.

Stop the killing of the living trees. Leave them alone.

The sale of Hofmann Forest is contrary to what I was taught as a student of forest management. Use the current revenue to build a reserve to sustain the forest. Better yet to develop a research program related to water resources, wet land tree species on organic soils (Atlantic White-cedar), etc. Do not sell but look for ways to enhance continued ownership.

Per the recent N&O editorial by Ron Sutherland, we are also opposed to selling the 79,000 acres of Hofmann Forest. We are a 1961 Ag. School graduate, and have retired from International Paper after 39 years.

Parks and greenlands across the nation are falling prey to moneyed interests. We need to remember that we breathe oxygen replenished by trees & plant life, and we generate a lot of CO2 that trees absorb. What else is there to say??!!!

We need to keep Hofmann forest for the people of NC. Why does private greed seem to always win in this state? We need all the public land we can get other wise we will be just one big mall with empty stores for a future.
