It is time for LISD to step up and be proactive. It is so much better to overreact than be sorry later. If students get sick and spread the disease to family members who are at high risk their blood will be on the hands of decision makers who refuse to act quickly.

We learned early on in school to be able to look at a pattern and predict that continuing pattern. We eventually learned to look at trends and thus predict outcomes. We also answered many test questions on exponents. And we learned how to do extensive research from reliable sources. Now LISD and the city of Lubbock are the ones taking the test... Will you pass? Or will you fail? The outcome of failure will be much more catastrophic than failing a class. What will that catastrophe be? I will leave that to your great research skills. But I'll give you a place to start. Look at Italy.

I’m a mom to a foster baby, 4 year old, 8 year old, and almost 10 year old who was recently diagnosed with asthma! I want to keep all my babies safe! And keep me safe for my babies!! They need me!

As of yesterday I was told that there is a patient (Javi Castañeda) at UMC quarantined being tested for Covid-19. With this concern everyone should stay safe and think of your families safety first.

Yes they should close Even though they say they cannot get it We need our children safe and sound at home do you please close the school canceled it so should we then they canceled it for the whole year

Kids present with symptoms atypical of adults and most won’t be detected by current guidelines - which are designed for adults. This puts all of the vulnerable people in their orbits at risk. We need to be responding to what we know WILL happen, not what is happening right now. Do the right thing, keep the kids home. Please.

This is the time to proactively contain the spread of COVID-19. This is bigger than protecting the kids, teachers, and staff at schools. Closing schools will decrease the spread of the disease in our community. Most kids get mild cases and will go undetected. This puts their older family and community members at risk, as this virus circulates silently through our schools and community. Do the right, smart, adult thing and close all schools beginning next week.
