Climate Change is not just about nature. Nazeeb lives in Bihar State India, he was trafficked at 14 years old. Tearfund is working to stop this happening to more children. The best protection from traffickers is for his parents to have a job. With a job they won’t be vulnerable to traffickers offering false promises of income.
But climate change is impacting the livelihoods of people in Bihar. As the climate changes, monsoon rains are more intense, and they flood out the infrastructure and agriculture which enables people to make a living. We need to take urgent action. Please do all you can to ensure that the UN Climate negotiation in Paris this December secures a deal which will keep global temperature rise well below 2 degrees. If we don’t take action it will make life much harder for people living in the poorest communities, making them more vulnerable to trafficking.
