To the Mayor and the City Council of Plaisir, The City Council decided, two years ago, to merge "la Cle des Champs" with the new "Espace Coluche", and provided some significant equipment. To this day, "la CDC" fulfilled perfectly its mission, offering: * A quality concerts programming, which generated the loyalty a public of all ages over the years ; * Access to rehearsal and recording studios, for many artists, young experimented; * Development of activities for the schools and associations of the town. When its former director, Philippe Guillonneau, left, the City Council decided not to name a new director for " la CDC ". Actually, the place is now under the aegis of the Director of Plaisir's Conservatoire. As we write this letter (end of October 2008), it is noted that : * The activity of the rehearsal and recording studios has not re-started while 70 bands (despite a sharp increase of the feein) are waiting for a weekly rehearsal schedule; * Two concerts have already been cancelled for the 1st quarter, and no programming communication for the " CDC " has been published and communicated to the public. In fact, the 2008-2009 season still hasn't started; * The temporary employees have not been re-hired, while their presence is vital to oversee the rehearsals and concerts ; The short-term consequences of this unclear situation could be fatal : with no direction of its own and no real programming, " CDC ", which has been since 1985, a major structure for rehearsal and diffusion of amplified music in Ile-de-France, will simply lose its public and disappear. Before gaining recognition on the French, and even international scene, hundreds of bands started there, supported by an ever greater public, attracted by accessible prices and an eclectic music selection, focusing on new bands and discovery. It also became a mandatory stop for many foreign bands playing in France. All this shaped the identity and specificity of the place and helped develop the influence of the City of Plaisir in the region, which in October 2006, was still investing a huge budgets to give " CDC " some brand new equipment. Will all this be wasted and end up in a mess, of which the inhabitants of Plaisir (and music fans in general) would be the main victims To avoid this, we therefore ask you to appoint a new specific director as head of "CDC", so he will ensure, as it has been dones before and in total autonomy, the missions for which this place was originally created. Musically yours

Seriously? 70 bands waiting? Such a waste of a great venue. Fix this now.
