The social contract seems to have frayed badly and littered streets are one obvious sign. I find this terribly disturbing. Walking up to King Estates Open Space is an exercise in either picking up or trying to ignore fast food trash, used condoms, broken glass, and worse. Roadsides and highways are equally blighted. How can I teach my grandchildren to participate in cleaning up their neighborhood when no one seems to care?

The gall of these illegal dumpers is unnerving. How dare they get away with this time and again without the consequence of the law. The City of Oakland must take action and do something about this. What it costs to come out and clean up could go towards prevention. Our neighborhood is not a dumping ground!

I especially hate to see contractors' waste like paint buckets illegally dumped. Oakland should not tolerate these and other illegal dumpers. Other cities seem to not have dumping problems to the magnitude that we do, especially in East Oakland. The same with side shows. Why is the city attracting these people and activities? It wears on me to live here. Keep Oakland beautiful!

The conditions of my neighborhood are deplorable. While proud, I often regret buying in East Oakland. It extends to so much more than dirty streets. This is the start of you hearing our voices. We WILL NOT be ignored.

I wholeheartedly support this effort, our East Oakland Neighborhoods do have debris scattered throughout. I am reporting piles of debris to public works tomorrow around the corner from my house.

Please make east Oakland stay continuously clean by removing debris when dumped as fast as when it is dumped in Piedmont, the Oakland hills(upper) or the Diamond district!
