We, the undersigned, support a Riverside County, California sales tax increase the express purpose of funding class-size reduction in elementary and middle schools. Our belief, supported by research, is that young children learn best with a low student-teacher ratio. Current student-teacher ratios of 30:1 for kindergarten through third grades and 35:1 for fourth through eighth grades are too high. We believe that properly funding education is the right thing to do for our children and our future. This economic crisis was not caused by our children, but they are paying the price with cuts to education.

I started this because the classroom numbers simply felt wrong and I had no idea so many of you felt the same. Your stories about how hard it is for students to get individual attention in these crowded rooms are what keep me going. I am currently working on getting these points in front of the right people.

35 kids in one middle school class is insane. how are they supposed to learn anything with that much noise and chaos?

YES. Fix the class sizes. Our schools are rotting from the inside out.

Totally agree. We need more teachers in the classrooms not more budget cuts.

My son is in a class of 32 kids. There is just no way the teacher can give him the help he needs. This has to change.
