Clanna Gael has turned its back on the very people who supported it from day 1 which is the local community of Ringsend and Irishtown. They are now more focused on bringing in members from more affluent areas of the locality. I believe if this is to be changed it must be from the top down, The club was very quick to benefit from the Covanta community gain fund several years on the trott each time for hundreds of thousands of euro but when it comes to incentivising the young people of the actual community to come and join the club and use the facilities there is none. I will be boycotting this club until they start to actually do some good for the youth of Ringsend and Irishtown instead of turning them away which was done to my son when he had an interest in joining. I grew up playing both football and hurling for Clanna Gael and I always felt a sense of pride in doing so but I can assure you that I will be bringing my own kids to play for a club that respects its surrounding community.
