I agree completely with this petition. Free parking is beneficial for small business and locals/residents in that it allows easy access for business colleagues when visiting for meetings, lunch, etc. Free parking allows locals to make an easy jaunt to their favorite spots especially during extreme weather. The real issue is CSM. CSM needs to acknowledge and address it's parking dilemma, so that fewer students will occupy the few free parking spots remaining in Golden. Encourage CSM to build parking decks and require an additional utilities fee or something! While you are at it, suggest they install solar pv modules on the decks!

I agree! This town does not need revenue from parking. It makes Golden even more attractive to tourists to have free parking.

Its frustrating enough to park in Golden because they have turned all the lots into condos and apartments, but to have to pay for that frustration is ludacris!

What happened to my small home town? Just because we were once the capital doesn't mean we have to charge like it.

Mines needs to increase parking and offer it for free. Of course the students park here because it is free and mines wants money for their own students to park. This makes no sense.

Change is inevitable. Growth is good. But both of these things can be harmonious. Currently, the direction Golden is moving is not harmonious. I believe it is driving out citizens/families that helped build it and give it the unique feel that people have loved. That homey, small town feel is quickly fading away and turning into a congested, typical town. I wish more effort was made to preserve the history and esthetic this beautiful place used to be. Too many delicatessen, ice-cream shops, over-priced boutiques, elite/exclusive/high-priced apartments. Having paid parking is just not ok. If the new direction of Golden is to drive out the heart and soul of what was once a sweet, inclusive, caring community, then congratulations, you're succeeding. There is a way to grow without destroying history. It'd be nice to think our city officials care more about the people than the $. Forget "don't Boulder my Golden", that was the 90s. We're past that. "Don't Cheery Creek North my Where The West Remains", not quite as catchy, but more acurate.

Wish they would STOP building apts in Golden. I feel this wouldn't be an issue if all the new apts weren't going up. All these people are ruining our town.

I've lived here my entire life. Golden used to be a nice place to live, a beautiful little town, everyone knows everyone, happy place that actually cherished nature. Now it's an ugly, busy, stressful city with a bunch of inconsiderate and ignorant people who are just money hungry and don't know how to preserve what we have. 1% Growth cap??? People tell me they moved here because it's so beautiful and nice here... STOP RUINING IT!!!

Golden is a different kind of city. Please allow us to stay that way! Locals can go downtown to frequent our businesses and we DO! Coming from Santa Fe, NM where parking has become so regimented that locals never ever go downtown, this is refreshing! We want to eat in our restaurants, shop in our stores and get massages, go to meetings, dance or whatever else is downtown. If the locals stop doing these things, many of the businesses will struggle or close on tourist dollars alone.
