Can't help but believe, changing the holiday is a ploy for votes from a politician who knows the climate between nationalities and cultures. Pick a different day. Pick a day that celebrates without conflict and self serving ideas. Pick a day that celebrates the history of Native Americans, their culture and contributions to this land. Change the date but keep hiding them? Pretty hypocritical. Add Native American history to the education system as it should be.

Why not create/celebrate a separate Indigenous People Day. Different month, date. History is history whether you approve, agree with it or not. No, I'm not missing the point!

Thank you for honoring the genocide of indigenous people at the hands of Christopher Columbus and the settlers of New England.

Leave Columbus Day alone!! Are there not more important things for her to be worried about in this day and Age?? IE., welfare, fraud, financial shortages that affect our school kids, etc. if you can’t my husband would like you to change 4th of July to November 3rd. Thank you.

How about giving indigenous people their own day? They deserve to be recognized on their own merit and for their own achievements and contributions. Not as a substitute for someone else’s. Columbus Day is also about recognizing Italian-Americans and their contributions to this country.
