Leave Columbus Day alone!! Are there not more important things for her to be worried about in this day and Age?? IE., welfare, fraud, financial shortages that affect our school kids, etc. if you can’t my husband would like you to change 4th of July to November 3rd. Thank you.

How about giving indigenous people their own day? They deserve to be recognized on their own merit and for their own achievements and contributions. Not as a substitute for someone else’s. Columbus Day is also about recognizing Italian-Americans and their contributions to this country.

Newton owes ~$1.4 Billion in debt and retirement benefit liabilities, representing ~$42,000 per household. Why are our city councilors wasting their time with such frivolous things like replacing Columbus Day with "Indigenous People Day".

Honestly I believe Nevada has it right. Leave Columbus Day alone. Native Americans deserve their own day and while we’re at it how about DEEDING them back some of their land?

History is important. You may think unkindly of Columbus, but you cannot wipe away history. That’s how we Americans learn...... from history. This comes from a registered nurse living in the lake. Columbus Day was also a day to recognize Italian Americans for their countless contributions to this country, as stated by President Frank Delano Roosevelt & congress.
