I think we all can agree that something needs to be done about healthcare in this country. As the richest country in the world, no one should suffer because they cannot afford quality healthcare. We have a moral obligation to take care of our citizens. A "Public Option" must be included in this bill before Congress. A Public Option will help to control costs, improve our healthcare services, and create competition. Without it, we are basically allowing the big insurance companies to continue on the path they are on; providing subpar benefits with high prices to boot. Please stand with me and consider signing this petition to hold our Representatives and Senators accountable. Tell them, "If you don't support a Public Option, then we don't support you."

I am a 31 year old wife, and mother. My husband is self-employed; therefore we do not have health insurance. We priced it a few years back and found that the price of insurance we qualified for outweighed the benefits significantly. I am an asthmatic and have been all my life, because of this fact, insurance companies will not cover my asthma needs, which is the only reason I ever go to a doctor. Other than my asthma, I am very healthy. I require a maintenance inhaler (Asmanex) and a pill to keep me symptom free. These drugs without insurance cost me over $200.00 a month. With the economy the way it is, I go without my medication; which means I can never breathe and it seriously affects my abilities to function as a human being and mother. Even if insurance companies would cover my “pre-existing” condition, we could still not afford the cost of insurance. Health coverage should be a right, not a privilege, and adding a "public option" into this healthcare bill is the only way to insure my family and the 47 million Americans without health insurance get the care we all need.
