The city should slow down, do the appropriate impact studies before committing such a huge amount of money. I want to know how this will benefit the community before borrowing money and using it for this purpose. Why place a new retail center that is not accessible by any mode other than a vehicle?

Why does a town of 12,600 people need a SUPERCENTER? There's one up the road in Monona, and one down the road in Janesville. Is this some type of sick joke? We are a beautiful little town nestled on the river. Please let's keep it that way!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's develop around the railroad and the river; let's strengthen our schools, not degrade our community and environment with a big box store that sucks life out of the downtown, and then expects its employees to apply for public assistance, because they can't earn a living wage. PLEASE .. what is wrong with the council and mayor? We need a Walmart like we need another tattoo parlor or bar.....

I am very concerned regarding the unethical manner in which the mayor and city council have handled this issue. Every indication is that this development will harm rather than help Stoughton's future.

Walmart Supercenter wasn't a good choice 10 years ago for Stoughton, it is an even worse choice now. The whole world is onto Walmart's practices except Stoughton. Let's grow smart, not cheap. We will gain nothing positive from Walmart while losing a great deal. That corner is the welcoming mat to Stoughton, don't ruin it by choosing the worst developments. The towns around are growing and not one do them had to put a Supercenter in to do so. Wizen up!

This plan only benefits a small handful of people and will cause irreversible harm to the landscape and the economy of the town. If you need a super center that badly, you can drive 10 minutes down the road to Monona and use that one.

I do not understand why the developer chooses the main retailer in the development and not the area citizens. I don't believe that the developer has the affected communities best interest in mind.
