As an Oregon resident, I am concerned about the impact a Super Walmart would have on both our communities. Small businesses will be shuttered by a low wage, big box with no ties to our communities.

Our City Council President and Mayor wrongly assert we must allocate millions in public tax dollars to subsidize Walmart in order to bring growth to Stoughton. Adding hundreds of minimum wage jobs/no benefit jobs will have the opposite impact. This would be a terrible mistake and one that our City would have to live with for decades.

This development is not needed and was not thought out. It smells of the alders not being honest with the public.

I'm not against growth... but not growth for growths sake. Stoughton needs planned, smart growth that supports our core assets (which is primarily our historic small town). Kettle Park West poses potential risks to the sustainability of existing small business... we need to study the economic implications of this decision, and seek community feedback before going forward with it.

As a life long Stoughton resident, I am APPALLED that we would even CONSIDER giving a corporation that annual makes BILLIIONS in profits any of our hard earned tax dollars. Go ahead and do it and watch your citizenry leave in droves. 123 Billion. That's what they made in PROFITS last year. If they want to come to our great city, let them pay for it themselves for once! Also, it would be great if behind closed doors meetings would be OPEN to the public whom elected you. You'd be wise to remember that.

I cannot understand why we want to subsidize Walmart with city welfare payments. I understand why this was kept a secret for so long and then rushed through once it was disclosed that Walmart was the secret store at issue. This community expects a professional and impartial impact study before such a monumental expenditure of our dollars.

My family of seven vehemently opposes this development. We moved our family to this community SPECIFICALLY for it's hometown charm and living downtown. I cannot express more sincerely the negative impact that this will have on our town. PLEASE seriously consider my opinion and recognized the consequences of such a development.
