Wal-Mart is both good and bad. In places where they need a store, it is good. In places where there is a thriving downtown area and the population doesn't warrant this behemoth, they are bad. Please do not destroy all the mom and pop businesses that are keeping this town alive just fine.

Although the discussion for this development has taken place for a long time the public was kept in the dark about the major tenant until the last several weeks. Keeping the public out of the process is the wrong way to do development on this scale. If this project is as wonderful as the supporters want you to believe why was it sprung on the community at the last possible minute? Because the public didn't believe the benefits to the community last time and they wouldn't believe it this time either. Fooling the public is not the way that any quality development is done. Stoughton now looks desperate for development, any development and that's when a community sells it's soul and goes for anything. Stoughton has all of the ingredients for attracting good development, except strong leadership.

Let me say that I am not opposed to growth, but your current disregard for due diligence on this matter is an insult to the citizens of Stoughton. Please reconsider to table the agreeement. Walmart will wait.

I love our town because of it's size. This will take away our small town feeling.

This is totally inappropriate use of public fuinds for a private retail project. The City is picking winners and losers with this venture and that should be left to the free market!

No TIF money for Walmart. This is an awful idea.

Using our limited tax dollars to help a greedy company like WalMart build a new store is wrong. Development should be focused on our downtown area - the place that makes Stoughton unique.

A Wal-Mart Super Center will ruin this town. Why dont you subsidise something productive like a biotech pharmaceutical company. Something with purpose. Something that will create good paying jobs. Something worth saying Im from Stoughton, Wi. Wal-Mart should be banned from this small town. We want progress but at the expense of productivity. Job at Wal-Mart pay crap. Their insurance for employees is crap. Make a statement here STOUGHTON. Dont buckle to some crappy Corporation.
