As concerned citizens of Alton, we stand firmly against the development of The Sunnybrook low-income housing project in our community! The planning of this project by Ed Hightower and Morrissey Construction was done “under the radar”. Only at the last minute was an article published in the Telegraph with the news of what is to be, making it sound like it was a done deal. The article was written with such blatant spin that it was insulting to those who truly care for, and LIVE in this community! We, the residents of Alton are working hard for the future of our town and we will not support any such housing project while there is already an over abundance of low-income dwellings. As citizens of goodwill, we are trying to move our beautiful city forward and recover from the scars of past housing projects and mismanaged properties. In the long run, Sunnybrook will be no different. Please consider signing this petition in opposition to another housing project in Alton. This document will be sent to city hall.
