TAFY was there for me when I was lost and still searching in Port Angeles. To shut it down would be wrongful. . The family's that go their have made a family and to separate them would break their household. Don't separate them. Family's are built to survive. .. I met Susan and Norma years ago when I was growing up in the 90's...that was my teenage years. Hot dogs on the pier..music. .friends..so much laughter. Take care of each other...you'll be fine..one thing to

Another comment from the PA group: TAFY was started with a youth mission; it received approval from the city with a youth mission; it received funding and donations with a *youth mission*; and the people shown on the petition are clearly not "youth". Youth is not 35... or 34... or 33 years old. That is middle aged! The pictures show middle aged clients of TAFY, so what? There are so many adult programs in town that other cities are shipping their problems here, so I don't know what you mean about where they'll go... there are many other adult programs..,,one about four blocks down the street.

Tafy has helped a lot of people out in the community, it should be there to help others. Susan does not let people loiter outside and when she does notice them; they are asked to leave. She isn't there to give them a place to do their drugs! It's just that they do them wherever they want to , she can't police everyone . This problem isn't just related to Tafy, other business's have had the same problem(s) with drug issues so stop picking on her only. Maybe if the people complaining so much would go in there and check it out they would realize that she is doing a hell of a lot to help clean up and get these people the help they need. Maybe if the so called clallam county drug watch/criminal site would quit following people around and taking their picture then blasting it all over Facebook, some of this crap would be taken care of?? Isn't it against the law to take photos of others without their consent? And if these people want to do drugs and leave others alone then so be it, it's when they start stealing then people need to keep an eye out, otherwise mind your own business!!

You're all blowing smoke out of your ass. This isn't even worth the petition. It doesn't matter if you need help no matter what. They have an age limit so I dint see the problem here. Police can be involved if stuff gets too out of hand. That's what places have police for. Dont make multiple suffer for the mistakes of few.

I'm going to put my two sense in Susan does an amazing job there and keeps thing under control as for your no age limit comment yes she monitors that. And as for the kids that walk down the street that is not a choice tafy has control over. Without tafy these kids that are trying to live a normal life and raise their children would have nothing. Tafy along with several Other people who volunteer or Contribute to tafy care and so do most of the kids at tafy. This has been open for years and she has changed many lives mine being one. I am a mother of two that with the help of Susan and many other have received a college degree and have made major changes to my life thank you tafy and all who support and most of all thank you to my amazing Susan you being put the best in alot of lives. I love you

This program was allowed to operate by the city, for *youth*. She admits that her mission has changed. And the city approval needs to change too. There are so many adult programs already, that other cities send their problems here. We don't need another adult program near a playground! Just the other day a child entered the bathroom, while two men in one stall were being questioned by police. They came to the park from TAFY, and returned to TAFY. The drug deals go down right in front of the building and are witnessed by neighbors... they don't even try to hide it!

Actually, TAFY & the meetings held there etc DO attract the best of people. People who are working on changing their lives, for the better, and becoming productive members of society.
While I definitely agree TAFY ought to revisit it's mission statement, to close it's doors would do ALOT more harm than good.
Spoken from someone who has used their resources and is now a part of a group who rents their facility for such a meeting.
I also think that if you're not willing to help clean up the mess, shut the he'll up! You cannot kid he something you ha e not fist-handedly been a part of or affected by. ANYTIME there is a free resource for at-risk youth, troubled young adults or any addict, there will be some undesirable behavior. Eliminating the resources only eliminates the behavior IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD. There always has been and always will be a bigger issue, much more than TAFY can handle on it's own. This should be about taking back our community, helping TAFY regain it's strength and boundaries, not shutting down another miraculous outreach program that has saved and continues to save COUNTELESS more lives than it has ever harmed.

This place enables criminal activity. Just because people aren't caught, doesn't mean it isn't criminal.

I'm sorry to hear about the crimes happening on your block. I live surrounded on 3 sides by known drug dealing houses and I have fallen victim to criminal activity as well. These types of crimes happen all over town. I am having to phone almost every two weeks about two businesses for which MANY different ages and walks of life folks frequent at ALL hours of the night and day doing very bothersome activities to include: fights; drug use; trespass; loud music; vandalism; etc. Crime happens every where here no matter the location/agency. There are ways to assist in curbing these unlawful activities and it does not come from shutting down a (helpful) agency due to a few bad apples. Those apples will simply find another local barrel to frequent so to speak. Other communities are banding together with highly creative ways to combat drug addiction and homelessness. I wish that folks here would do or at least try to do the same.
